Turn it up
My daughter invited me tonight to watch her Princess Sing-Along DVD with her. We made a deal. If she could get into her pajamas, use the potty, and brush her teeth all by herself and maintain her attention span long enough to do it within ten minutes then we’d watch the DVD. Well, she did it! What’s not to like? So, in it goes.
Now, here’s something you should know about four-year-old girls: they take their sing-alongs seriously. The laughing and joyful atmosphere after the first two songs must have clouded my judgement. As Pocahontas came on, I began to make up my own words. My daughter was not amused. I confess, I knew it might perturb her a little bit and I was expecting her to laugh or jump on me or tell me how silly I was. But I underestimated the weight a Disney princess carries in our home.
She turned to my wife and with a heavy sigh said, “Mommy, can you turn it up please so Daddy knows the words?”
