Tickles
It’s funny the things you teach your kids when you don’t realize your doing it. When we play with my son we often tickle his feet. He has a strong laugh and loves it. He’ll put his feet in the air over and over again so we can keep playing the tickle game.
I guess we’ve played it so much that he’s come to call his feet his “tickles.” He knows his eyes, his nose, mouth, ear, hair; but when he points to his feet he calls them “tickles.”
He also knows they’re called feet, which is interesting in itself. I’ll ask him, “Show me your feet.” And he will — but then he calls them his tickles. Maybe he’s correcting me.
He does exactly the same thing with fish, which he calls “pooma.” We have no idea where he got that from. I’m sure he’ll start calling them “feet” and “fish” before too long. I’ll be happy and proud that day.
But I’ll also be a little sad.
