A quest for the fountain of youth spanning the interlocking timelines of a 16th century conquistador, a present day research scientist, and a 26th century astronaut. Not what I expected. The film, drenched in a feeling of desperation and sadness, is sometimes far out, often very beautiful. Poetic. The climax didn’t move me but I might get more from it on a second viewing. May have more of an impact on you if you subscribe to philosophies involving the theme “life from death.” Me, I’m more of a fertilizer from death kind of guy. I liked it, although more on an artistic level rather than as an example of entertainment. Not for everyone.
