Seeking Holy Cow at the local mega-store
Scene: in the cleaning aisle of the local mega-store. For those of you who might not know, in America, the phrase “holy cow” is an expression meaning “wow” or “amazing.”
Daughter: What are we doing here?Doubly amusing when you realize that my daughter can't quite read yet.
Wife: We're looking for cleaner.
Daughter: What kind?
Wife: Holy Cow.
Daughter: I'll help, Mommy. What's it called?
Wife: It's called Holy Cow.
Pause.
Daughter, spoken with emphasis as if my wife was deaf: I'll help find it. But what is it called?
Wife, laughing now: Holy Cow! It's called Holy Cow cleaner!
Daughter: Grr! Mom!
Wife, trying to stifle the laughter: It's in a pink bottle and it has a cow on it. Look for that.
Daughter: Ok.

I love seeing what products are available in different countries and how everyday life differs from mine. But though you can buy lots of cool things down Third Street Promenade, there wasn’t a single supermarket or 7/11 in sight. I think I might have understood Holy Cow, but the range of options when buying a simple burger was beyond my capabilities.

nichole on 2006-05-26 17:43:25 wrote: I found Holy Cow cleaners at Ace Hardware and discovered that they don’t work any better than my other cleaners. The All purpose product indicated that it was good for carpets. I used some and it left residue which attracted more dirt in a few days than I had to begin with. The glass cleaner didn’t work much better than water…it’s just a bunch of hype. I wouldn’t recommend anyone purchase Holy Cow cleaners…doing so is a waste of money and a huge disappointment.

The only problem is I can’t find enough to replace the bottle I’m about to finish. And the other problem is getting a funny look when you tell store employess what you want to buy when you can’t find any.

I recommend HC to anybody who can find it. Try the WEB SITE http://www.holycowproducts.com You will find all of the cleaners there! What the heck, try it, if you do not like it then don’t change. But take my word for it, you will like it.

I loved them both, but especially the pink All purpose cleaner. It worked great on everything, especially on grease in the kitchen. I love the fact that it is non-toxic and biodegradable. I have switched my home to all natural, non-toxic products, inside and outside, which is why I bought it in the first place. My big problem now, is that our local walmart no longer carries it. I tried the Holy Cow web-site, but shipping charges are enormous. I hope I’ll be able to find it some place else soon!

I’m pleased with the way this cleans my counters and appliances, although I do worry about its ability to disinfect my food prep areas. Anyone used this to mop their real wood floors?

I love this stuff. When I have to spend hours cleaning I like the fact that this cleaner smells nice, doesn’t make me sick and is safe for kids, pets etc. Plus the price isn’t too bad. and YES it works very well. I tackle all sorts of cleaning jobs and this does wonders. The GLASS cleaner is the best I have used, especially on mirrors. The people that don’t like it apparently are using chemicals I have never used or had no luck with. I buy out our stores supply. They only get three bottles of pink and two of blue. I may ask them to up that amount. HA

It is a fantastic degreaser and is by far the BEST laundry pre-spotter I’ve ever used (and with my two kids, it’s really put through the test!) My only concern: my local Walmart once again stopped carrying a product I love. I hope I can find more somewhere!
