A subtle comedy without being (too) dark. Not for everyone, follows the dysfunctional-family-bonds-via-quest formula, but has its moments. There are no profound revelations (but some that try to be) and you don’t get to know most of the characters well enough to really care about their personal struggles or how they overcome them (which is kind of a mystery, actually). I definitely preferred Pieces of April, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and American Beauty. But it has some very funny situations and dialog—the grandfather’s speech about sex is classic. It was good, but I probably won’t watch it again.
