This is actually from a few months ago. She writes much more clearly now. In fact, she’s such a good speller that we can’t use spelling as a secret code any more while talking. If you look carefully, you can match up most of the words from the original to the translation.

Original text:

Der Mommy werb and sdtker Da. My hot iss bel pownden. Topri kom. He gi us preset rat in bamoo lef. u As soon o we opendet det. Wus fold wet hakorns.

Translation:

Dear Mommy, it was a weird and mysterious day. My heart is still pounding. Totoro came. He gave us a present wrapped in a bamboo leaf. As soon as we got home we opened it. It was full of acorns.
