Kids 3, Dad 0

So the kids have been vomitting on me again. The Boy took me by surprise the first time. Without warning, he vomitted down my back after he asked me to pick him up. I wasn’t wearing a shirt so it made its way down my back to my pants. He was fine after.

The second time there was a warning but I mistook it for tiredness. He laid his head down on a stool after we came home from a long day out. I picked him up. He vomitted down my back again. This time my shirt absorbed most of the mess and I managed to aim him away from me before the second volley. We hopped in the bath together and he was fine.

Then the bug hopped hosts to my daughter. She vomitted tonight in bed but I managed to catch the tail end of it in my lap. She’s old enough to understand what a mess is and how to use a bucket so her second volley later on was contained. It breaks my heart to see the kids so sick. Fortunately, they have no other symptoms and they only feel bad for a few minutes before and after the attacks.

After you’ve been up to your elbows in it and had it running down your back, vomit just doesn’t have the impact that it used to. Everyone says kids change your life but they don’t go into details. No one ever tells you that you’ll be covered in vomit so much that you’ll get used to it.

My wife and I are sweating it out now, waiting to see which of us will get it next.
