Dropping off Mr. Grumpy Pants at preschool

The Boy likes preschool. But he does not like going to preschool. He pouts when we drop him off and then, no matter how happy he is or how much fun he had, he’ll pout again when we pick him up. After school, it only takes a few seconds for him to remember that he’s angry at us, but by then he’s already started running towards us with his arms out. He’ll slow down and then put his hands defiantly under his arms, his head goes down, and the pout begins. He’s quite the showman. The other day, to emphasize his pout, he bent over at the waist – I am not making this up – until his forehead was nearly touching his knees and then he just stood there, like some kind of angry, featherless, pouty ostrich. As soon as we were out of view he was fine, of course. We live near Hollywood – maybe we should audition him someplace. There must be a daytime soap that needs a toddler with a sense of drama.

Some days I feel so guilty after leaving him, my day is almost ruined. (I say almost because hey I have 2&1/2 hours to myself - I simply have a duty to enjoy that.) I love the open arm squeal when I come to pick him up. The image of your son’s act when you pick him up is hilarious. I think hollywood might definitely be an option.
