Christmas delayed somewhere in Ohio
A storm grounded flights out of Ohio and the surrounding area today, which means that my packages spent all day in Ohio instead of being delivered. The DHL customer service person said that they will try and deliver them on Christmas Eve — but no guarantees. I pulled up a satellite photo of the area from the Weather Channel and saw that the storm was indeed massive but was mostly clearing up over Ohio.
And at once I was both disappointed that my packages might not make it in time for Christmas and amazed that I live in a time when it is possible to deliver packages thousands of miles overnight (weather permitting) and on a whim see nearly live pictures of the Earth from space (even if it is just Ohio :)). Our kids will take these abilities for granted. They’ll be amazed that we can remember a time when it was not so.
