Birthday parties are serious business
Son: Dad, I got invited to a birthday party!
Me: Oh, cool! Let me see the invitation. Mm hmm. Looks like fun.
Son: Yah!
Daughter: I wish I could go.
Me: Been a while since you've been to one?
Daughter: Yes! I haven't been to a birthday party since January!
Me: No more this year?
Daughter: No! Everybody has had their birthday party already! I was the last one!
Me: Oh my goodness! What's keeping you alive? I would just die!
Daughter: *glares*
Son: Not funny, Dad.

You know, when you’re a kid, you swear that you’ll never be like your parents, you’ll always know what it’s like to “like kid things” and then you wake up and you ask yourself, “Why are birthday parties such a big deal?” This is classic stuff.
