Yesterday, at lunch
Scene: eating sandwiches in the kitchen.
Son: Dad.
Me: Yeah?
Son: I just pulled a yellow thing out of my ear.
At this point I stop eating and look at him and think about where my feet are lest I step on something unpleasant.
Me: Oh, yeah? What did you do with it?
Son: I put it back.
That works for me.
