That’s my girl

We watched part of The Sound of Music tonight. In the song Sixteen Going on Seventeen, the girl sings:

I need someone older and wiser
telling me what to do.
You are seventeen going on eighteen —
I’ll depend on you.

My daughter was sitting in my lap and I told her that she doesn’t need to depend on a boy for anything. That she can do whatever she needs to do for herself. She replied, “I know, Daddy. But I’ll need a boy to take care of the children while I’m at work.”
