Send To Flickr: a Flickr photo uploader for the Gnome desktop (Linux)
There are three ways to use the app. The easiest is to just drag and drop a photo onto the desktop icon. Send To Flickr adds a desktop “dropbox” that allows a photo to be dragged and dropped directly to Flickr.
You can also select one or more images, then right click and click Scripts, then Send to Flickr from the menu.
Finally, you can use it at the command line:
sendtoflickr FILENAME...
where FILENAME is an image file for upload to Flickr.com. Multiple filenames can be separated by spaces or you can do stuff like “sendtoflickr *.jpg”.
You’ll find a selection of icons in various sizes (scalable too) in /usr/share/icons/sendtoflickr.
Download
The best way to install Send To Flickr and get automatic updates is to download it from my PPA (add ppa:jwatson/ppa to your software sources).

Hi
Thanks for the “send to flickr” application – it seems to work quite well compared with other ones I’ve tried so far. One thing I’ve noticed is that if you use it in your Nautilus “scripts” menu (thanks for pointing out this feature of Nautilus btw), it works fine from any ordinary folder, but if you try to send a photo that’s on the desktop, it just shows an about box.
I’m using Hardy Heron Beta, btw.
Cheers,
Tom Kirby
Glad you like it. I’m not having the problem sending from the Desktop. I’m not on Heron yet but I can’t think of anything different between the Desktop and any other folder. What version of Gnome are you using? I’m on 2.20.1 (System | About Gnome).
I’m using 2.22.0. I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going on. I’ve spent this afternoon adding the capability to resize images with Imagemagick before uploading them, and I’m emailing you a patch, in case you’re interested.
It’s a bug in Nautilus. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341657
What about an RFP (Request for packaging) to the debian wnpp?
