If you stick with someone long enough, you’re going to find some things you don’t like

It’s easier to say “I love you too” than it is to say “I love you anyway.” But I’m convinced that if you can’t, it won’t last. Fortunately, I have a very understanding and patient (and lovely and talented) wife. Our 10th anniversary was this January.

Incidentally, the traditional 10th anniversary gift is tin. But I don’t recommend you actually give the gift of tin. That’s one of those things that’s funny when you tell the story later but not so much when you’re actually doing it.

Giving tin is fine, as long as the tin contains something more exotic, like jewellery or Belgian chocolates.

  2. Hygiene Dad says:

Tin foil perhaps. Or what about a case of beer in tin cans? All of those clearly say thanks for sticking with me for 10 years.

    Happy anniversay, btw

I agree…I love you ANYWAYS is really what it is all about…good call.

It’s easy to love perfection. Adding that “anyway” does make it so much more powerful a feeling.

I love that way of looking at things! And you’re probably right about the tin…though it WOULD make a good story.

  6. Thomas says:

If it weren’t for “anyway” I would be so lonely.

I honestly don’t know how my sweetheart puts up with me but I figure if she can see what’s best in me better than I can for this long, she’s a keeper.

With time, I’ve seen that love is a strange power, that glues everything whatsoever could break apart. But in the end true love means loving your girlfriend/boyfriend above all things, things you can pass, things you can forget. And keep in your heart all that makes you love her/him. So therefore say I love you anyway, is a honest way of looking your life together with someone.

Never never say something is forever, but don’t say either is fragile, live every day, every moment and love it as much as you can, there’s no other way to experience and enjoy love but everyday.
