I love the sound of flushing in the morning. It sounds like… victory.

I changed my last diaper a few days ago after about 61 months of daily changes. Our youngest has graduated to big boy briefs and there was much rejoicing.

The smell of poopy diapers has left the building. No longer do children come crying to me with soiled underpants. Now, I supervise. Go to the bathroom before we leave. Go to the bathroom before bed. Go to the bathroom after lunch. Did you wash your hands? Wash your hands.

You get used to changing diapers, but this is so much nicer. This morning, The Boy came into the bedroom saying he needed to use the bathroom. We said, “Okay, go use the toilet.” And he did. And I didn’t get out of bed. And I went back to sleep.

It’s like a little miracle.
